Job Description

SUMMARY:

Independently assemble and disassemble all produced unit machines and assist Supervisors, Production Planners, Engineers, other Assembly Persons, Technicians, Logistics, Customers, and Field Service personnel with start-ups and repair. Assemble all other unit machines with the assistance of an Assembly Person A. Adhere to Company quality standards at all times.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):

  • Perform all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Assemble and disassemble unit machines from blueprints, sketches, schematics, Bill of Materials and other written and/or verbal instructions using the tools of the trade including precision measuring instruments;
  • Continuously improve job knowledge through documented participation in classroom, cross functional, field or other technical training in order to advance to an Assembly Person “A” or other higher skilled position(s);
  • Maintain open communication with Supervisor, Production Planners, Engineers, Technicians, Customers, Logistics and Managers;
  • Perform test runs on all unit machines including set-ups and evaluations, assist in start-ups and repairs in field locations;
  • Handle and transport materials in safe manner utilizing fork trucks, cranes and other mobile equipment;
  • Maintain accurate documentation such as labor tickets. Make timely, job relevant electronic data postings;
  • Support the Company goals of continuous improvement of quality, safety, and the reduction of manufacturing costs and lead times;
  • Weld with stick and/or mig;
  • Operate manual machine tools;
  • Keep area clean and orderly;
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Trade school and/or 3-5 years’ experience in a shop environment. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting complex drawings and blueprints, have the ability to use measuring instruments, drive fork trucks, use cranes, and other mobile equipment. Candidate should be a logical thinker with problem-solving strategies, detailed, self-motivated, able to handle multiple tasks, prioritize work, make sound, independent decisions, maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment, be flexible, have a cooperative attitude, and work independently and as a team member with little to no supervision.

This position requires work in a plant / mill environment, which may be dusty, dirty, with varying temperature and noise levels, heavy duty magnets, welding machines, and manual & remote controlled devices using radio signals. Good mobility is required in order to travel among departments. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, kneel ascend/descend stairs, work in confined spaces, possess excellent sight, hearing, touch, and coordination, and wear necessary PPE. Must be able to endure long working hours when required and perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
