Job Description

The Hydro Small Services and Operations & Maintenance Manager is in charge of the business development and growth related to this important sector of activities for the Andritz Hydro Service and Rehab business in Canada. In this important role, the Hydro Small Services and Operations & Maintenance Manager will report directly to the Senior Vice-President. The main responsibilities related to that position are:

 

Sales, Proposals and Project Execution:

In collaboration with the company shared services:

  • Manages the team in charge of the proposal preparation and project execution activities related to parts, services and O&M;
  • Provides strategic guidance and necessary support to his team members;
  • Acts as the Process Owner related to the Small Services and Operations & Maintenance activities and work very closely with the Operations Managers at the other Andritz Hydro Canada divisions mainly Automation division located in Chambly, Qc and Gates division located in Paris, On.;
  • Upon identification of a new opportunity, provides a bid / no-bid recommendation and propose a winning strategy in case of bid;
  • Occasionally prepares bids, including responsibilities for all technical and commercial aspects;
  • Reviews and approves all bids and PO’s as per company regulations;
  • When applicable supports or leads directly the contract negotiations with the clients;
  • Responsible for oversight and follow-up of projects handle by team members to ensure customer satisfaction, on time delivery, and project execution excellence;
  • Develops tools and KPI’s (dashboard) to monitor periodically the performance of its department;
  • Be the main point of contact for the global Andritz Hydro task force involved in Small Services and Operation and Maintenance and prepare the required progress reports;
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and use of internal marketing tools for customer visits;
  • Organizes monthly internal review of the Small Services and Operations & Maintenance activities with the management.

 

Business development:

In collaboration with the Hydro Business development team:

 

  • Prepares and develops a yearly Business plan (along with budget) for small services and Operations & Maintenance activities;
  • Deploys and implements the yearly business plan;
  • Together with his team members, develops an annual plan of customer visits at middle management and operational levels in order to promote Andritz Small Services and Operations and Maintenance offerings and capabilities;
  • Keep good business key and strategic clients and obtain periodically their assessment in regards to our performances.
  • Promotes and introduces the numerous solutions/tools developed by the Andritz Hydro task force;
  • Promote and prioritizes the negotiation and implementation of Master (or Long Term) Service Agreements with strategic clients.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
  • A good knowledge of the hydro market in Canada and/or USA (an asset);
  • Experience in the management of operation and maintenance for hydro plants (an asset);
  • Minimum five (5-7) years of experience in project management or operation & maintenance or business development related to engineered/manufactured products and services for after-market;
  • Background in sales, proposals and customer interaction;
  • Commercial contract knowledge and negotiation skills;
  • Leadership and coordination skills; ability to manage a team and follow up on deliverables;
  • Proven experience and accomplishments related to the efficient management of projects with an inherent complexity and an accelerated schedule;
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills;
  • Results driven and oriented;
  • Strategic thinking and highly adaptive to a complex organization;
  • Proven track record dealing with customers or job experience as a customer (preferably hydro utilities and/or independent power producers);
  • Effective communication skills (oral  & written) in a multi-stakeholder environment;
  • Fluency in English and in French;
  • Availability to travel, as required (mainly in Canada);
  • Knowledge of products, technical aspects and market related to hydroelectric business desired (an asset).
