Job Description

The electrical installation coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating and leading the installation of the electrical scope of projects. He will work in collaboration with the projects’ lead installation coordinators, the site managers and supervisors as well as the project management team. The electrical scope of a hydro-electric power project will include turbine and generator instrumentation, protections, controls, distribution equipment, etc. This position is based at the Andritz office in Pointe-Claire with frequent meetings in the Andritz office in Chambly, where the electrical systems are designed.

During the preparation and planning phase:

  • Review and understand the design and the installation scope of work;
  • Actively participates to Design reviews;
  • Prepares the electrical installation plan:
    • Finalizes man-hours estimate;
    • Validates/prepares the quantities for the specified materials;
    • Prepares the schedule for the electrical installation scope;
    • Reviews the budget estimate and adjust as necessary;
  • Prepares the installation manuals and other installation related documents;
  • Prepares and optimizes the electrical site staff requirements (supervision and labour);
  • Prepares the tooling lists and coordinates procurement;
  • Prepares purchase specifications and negotiates with subcontractor in coordination with Installation Coordinator and Procurement (in the case of subcontracted electrical installation);
  • Participates in Mobilization planning;
  • Lead the planning and organization of temporary/construction power mobilization;
  • Participates in Risk assessments.
  • During the execution phase:
  • Ensures the site team is well aware of the installation plan and performs regular follow-ups, including going to site;
  • Technically support the site team;
  • Coordinates with Design Engineering technical problems resolution;
  • Prepares estimates for site change orders;
  • Leads schedule updates, short-term planning and progress reports for the electrical scope;
  • Analyses the electrical installation costs and progress, including the analysis of deviations.

Job Requirements

  • Electrical engineering diploma (College or University);
  • Experience on Canadian construction unionized sites, medium to large size holding leadership roles within electrical or general contractor;
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience working in similar role;
  • Proven leadership ability within a team context;
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of electrical equipment;
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Canadian electrical code CSA C22.1;
  • Strong French and English proficiency, both oral and written;
  • Hydro-electric project knowledge an asset;
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team work skills and autonomy;
  • Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines;
  • Strong customer service orientation;
  • Ability to travel to sites for short and medium periods.
