Job Description

As support to mechanical design teams, perform mechanical analyses with state-of-the-art analytical methods and computer engineering tools :

  • Use and develop techniques such as finite element analysis, analysis of vibrations, stress computing, fracture mechanics, etc.;
  • Under the monitoring of a technical supervisor, prepare specialized technical reports and counsel on the mechanical behaviour of various components;
  • Using digital methods and specialised software, perform dynamics reviews of hydraulic turbines (fluid/structure interactions, vibrations, resonance, damping, correlations with empirical and/or site measurements, etc.);
  • When reviewing the behaviour of various structures, analyze the dynamics measurement signals and relate on-site measurements with analysis outcome;
  • Participate in research and development projects to validate and define design criteria and computing methods used in mechanical design;
  • Ensure flow of technical communication related to current research and development projects both within and outside Andritz Hydro;
  • Determine tools and approach to be used when developing practical and innovative solutions to technical problems.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering;
  • In-depth experience in finite element analysis / fluid/structure interactions or relevant work experience;
  • Strong interpersonal communications abilities;
  • Bilingual (English, French) ;
  • Ability to work autonomously;
  • Programming knowledge;
  • Experience in 3D modelling (Siemmens NX, Catia, Soldiworks, etc.);
  • Hands-on experience in various finite element analyses (statistical, dynamics, non-linear, etc.) and validation of outcome.


  • Master degree in Sciences, Mechanical Engineering;
  • Experience in product design for heavy industry;
  • Experience in problem-solving through finite element analysis;
  • Experience in computing fluid/structure interactions, stress analysis, vibrations, fracture mechanics, signal analysis, etc.;
  • Knowledge of programming languages Python and/or Ansys Mechanical APDL.
