Job Description

Andritz Limited, a division of Andritz AG, is a leading Refiner Service Center supporting the North American Pulp and Paper industry. As the OEM, we are responsible for supporting our customers businesses with new and rebuilt equipment as well as technical experience. Andritz is seeking a self-motivated individual to provide Technical support to our Refining Product Managers as well as utilizing technical resources within our organization.

 

The Position

This position is being created within Andritz Ltd. to support our product and project managers working in our Rebuild Facility in Brantford ON.  The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who not only has excellent mechanical engineering skills, but is also a good communicator and comfortable with a fast paced environment.

 

Major responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Responsible for product engineering functions related to Andritz Refiners and Auxiliary Equipment with other products including:
    • Accumulate and maintain all technical information including MFG. drawings.
    • Design and create working drawings related to modifications and upgrades.
    • Documentation control related to manufacturing and rebuilding.
    • Communicate with Andritz Engineers for technology exchange
  • Execution of projects related to field retrofits, installations
  • Checking and revising of drawings where applicable.
  • Support Operations.
  • Maintain Machinery Records
  • Provide Engineering support during spare parts manufacturing and equipment rebuilds.
  • Communicate /promote ideas, concepts etc.
  • Develop innovative solutions and retrofit options for refining equipment.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Be able to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.

 

Expectations

The successful candidate will be expected to learn everything about refiners and auxiliaries. The first phase of this process will be learning the mechanical refiners. Working closely with the Product Managers, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn all of the mechanical considerations of the equipment and much of the process.

 

 

Job Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma (Minimum)
  • Experience with equipment design and/or paper mill process engineering would be an asset.
  • Ability to learn the mechanical/process aspects of pulp processing equipment.
  • Ability to learn refiner hydraulics and vibration characteristics
  • Experience with material selections, knowledge of strengths of metals, structural load calculations, machining, welding and assembly techniques. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD ® and AutoDesk Inventor Series ®, Microsoft Office ®  and various other engineering applications.
  • Familiarity with machining, fabrication and ASME Code is a plus.
  • Applicant must have the ability to do mechanical design and analysis of equipment and assemblies, knowledge of geometric tolerances, mechanism, bearings, gears and fits of shafts.
  • Mechanical problem solving skill and close attention to detail is needed.
