Job Description

Our Automation Solutions division has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Process Control Engineer – Intelligent Systems, to work collaboratively with our project teams to optimize our customers’ industrial processes through the design and application of various advanced automation technologies, including: Advanced Control Expert (ACE™), BrainWave™, Multiple Input and Multiple Output (MIMO), Model Predictive controller (MPC), and IDEAS™ simulation platform; all proprietary products of ANDRITZ.

Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Evaluate inputs, outputs, and accompanying processes to identify areas for improvement
  • Design control strategies and implement technology to optimize performance
  • Use simulation with first principle models to test new control strategies
  • Collect and analyze plant response test data to build empirical dynamic process models
  • Configure and tune multivariable predictive controller parameters
  • Work with control room operators and process and instrument engineers to complete commissioning and plant response tests
  • Provide commissioning and start-up support for the completed control applications
  • Set up and execute controller simulation for large scope problems

Job Requirements

When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechatronic, or computer engineering
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in advanced automation troubleshooting, design, and configuration
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) with EGBC
  • Resourceful, self-managed, and goal driven but still able to work effectively in a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international locations

Other valued, but non-essential skills, abilities, and experience include:

  • Database proficiency
  • Consulting engineering experience
  • Instrumentation and electrical troubleshooting
  • Commissioning, construction, and start-up experience
