Job Description

  • Manage multiple projects on assigned product line ranging from 1 week to 6 month delivery and up to $2 million gross value
  • Maintain targeted project budget and schedule.
  • Set and maintain schedules throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with product manager, project support staff, shop floor employees, and supply vendors to ensure required information flow to complete project scope within budget and schedule.
  • Routinely monitor project costs and schedules.
  • Account for project cost overruns and provide an explanation with updated forecast plan.
  • Respond to technical and/or production related issues and determine a plan to eliminate and/or mitigate impact to project.
  • Assist product manager in estimating the cost of repairs and/or repair options based on supplied inspection report.
  • Assist product manager in support of customer needs via technical inquiries and/or specific project requirements
  • Mentor and/or train junior staff in support of project management responsibilities.
  • Routinely maintain and update product-line SAP template BOM's and routings to continuously improve production flow.
  • Coordinate with Operative Buyer to manage inventory related to his/her specific product line
  • Travel to domestic and international locations as required (less than 10%)

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or 10 years' equivalent experience in pulp and paper or heavy Machinery industry.
  • Working knowledge of project management
  • Trained in AutoCAD
  • Strong command of the English language in both written and verbal communication
  • Strong working knowledge of machining and fabrication practices
  • Able to accurately read fabrication and machining drawings
  • Project management skills
  • Analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Regular use of Microsoft Office Software
  • Capability with SAP or similar (Learning SAP at this time)
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Ability to travel to the USA
