Job Description


The Project Manager is ultimately responsible for the proper completion of projects under their supervision, completed on schedule, on budget and to customer’s satisfaction. This includes, but not limited to:

  •  Launches new projects, sets financial objectives and the operating strategy with the team, evaluates the risks and implements an efficient internal and external communication plan;
  • With all departments involved, develops the general and detailed planning and coordination of all the activities required to meet established contractual and financial objectives;
  • In collaboration with the Department Managers, analyzes, defines and implements a contingency plan to correct any failure or inadequacy that can have a direct impact on the results of the project (costs, deadlines, quality…);
  • Ensures a follow-up and compliance with contractual obligations, technical specifications, quality and health & safety standards from Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing and Installation, as well as the timely performance of all activities related to each project under their supervision;
  • Organizes team meetings, prepares the minutes and defines the actions for the team during the entire duration of the project;
  • Prepares and negotiates customer change orders and claims;
  • In collaboration with the Department Managers, analyzes and prepares all the documentation related to the monthly project review with management;
  • Performs a risk & opportunity evaluation and details the possible financial & schedule variances with regard to the established objectives while suggesting a contingency plan to correct a potential situation;
  • Develops project forecast at completion and variance mitigation plans;
  • Ensures all departments have the tools, materials, equipment and product to complete project;
  • Ensures the proper completion of a project once activities are completed and remains responsible for the project until the end of the warranty period of the said project;
  • Handles special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Mechanical or Civil Engineer/Technologist or equivalent experience;
  • PMP designation or equivalent experience;
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of large or heavy metal fabrication and installation, and related design and manufacturing activities;
  • Proven experience and accomplishments related to the efficient management of projects with a dynamic and an accelerated schedule;
  • Strong experience in project risk management and adherence to financial objectives;
  • Proven leadership and team spirit, innovative;
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines;
  • Professionalism and tact in representing the company to our internal and external customers;
  • Strong customer service orientation;
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office; MS Project, Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Availability to travel, as necessary

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Project Managers work a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones.
