Job Description

Major responsibilities are listed but not necessarily limited to the following duties:

 

o   Lead and manage the overall quality control program for Andritz supplied equipment and continuously improve it to assure consistent quality on a timely and cost-effective manner, maintaining and improving customer satisfaction.

o   Develop and maintain fabrication procedures and quality requirements for different types of materials used by Andritz for different process equipment.

o   Develop and maintain fabrication quality and quality control requirements, and best practices for all critical equipment supplied by Andritz

o   Develop and implement Inspection & Testing Plan (ITP) for all critical equipment

o   Coordinate, review, and issue ITP’s for all work related to the project, including ITP hold points.

o   Lead in developing and maintaining approved subcontractor lists based on proven quality and reliability (for both domestic and international fabrication) for all critical process equipment, making sure each of these suppliers has well established and sustainable quality control programs assuring acceptable quality products consistently without any external supervision.  

o   Interface with design personnel for design review, and appropriate and cost-effective materials of construction selections for process equipment.

o   Interface with customers, maintain customer relationship & satisfaction        

o   Facilitate shop & field inspections, and shop audits.

o   Manage & enforce supplier NCR process; including follow up & communication

o   Ensure excellent internal communication in a team environment       

o   Supplier development; key interface with procurement for supply chain needs

o   Control of subcontracted processes & products, set & communicate expectation

o   Manage approved supplier lists for key products by materials & standards

o   Manage key suppliers for audits, (re)evaluations, & continuous improvements

o   Qualify & Manage 3rd party inspector network

o   Maintain database for supplier assessments, audits, certificates, NCR's, etc.

o   Support internal quality training program development & implementation

 

 

Job Requirements

o   Bachelor’s (preferably Master’s) degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Welding engineering.

o   15-20 years’ experience as Quality Control Engineer, Quality Control Manager, Project Engineer, or similar responsibility for process equipment manufacturing and supplies to pulp and paper, power or similar chemical process industries; preferably at least 5 years as a quality manager.

o   In-depth knowledge of metallurgical properties of metallic materials, like carbon steels, low alloy steels, alloy steels, stainless steels, nickel-base alloys, titanium, etc. that are used to design and fabricate process equipment for pulp and paper industries, and behavior of these materials during fabrication, especially during welding. The person also should have in-depth knowledgeable of the materials used in recovery boilers in pulp and paper mills, and their specific fabrication procedure requirements.

o   Working knowledge on design and fabrication codes, and regulatory requirements for structural components, pressure vessel, and pressure piping for both domestic and international applications (especially AWS D1.1 or ASME Sec. I, ASME Sec. VIII, B31.1, EN ISO 5817).

o   In-depth knowledge (and preferably certifications) on welding quality inspection techniques (like visual, magnetic particle, dye-penetrant, ultrasonic, radiography, etc.) and acceptance criteria from these tests for different fabrication Codes and quality requirements.

o   Working knowledge on developing and verifying welding procedure specifications, welding procedure qualification records, welders’ and welding machine operators’ certifications following different fabrication/manufacturing Codes (AWS, ASME, ISO).

o   Self-motivated person able to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.

o   Has proven track records of leading technical teams in developing and successful implementation of quality programs for large projects in chemical process industries.

o   Ability to project a positive, professional image to customers and vendors.

o   Knowledge of equipment fabrication, machining and welding technology related to the ANDRITZ portfolio of equipment in the pulp and paper industry

o   Knowledge on shop and field assembly, inspection and repair

o   Demonstrate the ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team in order to develop and fully implement Andritz quality programs (with proper verification process).

o   Excellent computer and presentation skills
