Job Description

The Quality Operations Manager is responsible for:

  • Selection, development and proper assignment of the quality resources in shops, at suppliers and at construction sites;
  • Ensuring the efficient implementation of the Andritz Hydro quality management system on the projects;
  • Leading the non-conformance and improvement processes in the projects.

This position is based in the Andritz office in Pointe-Claire with visits at our various project sites and manufacturing facilities, as needed.

Main responsibilities:

  • Project Quality Resources:
    • Ensure sufficient QA & QC resources are assigned in the projects;
    • Actively participate in the selection of new QA & QC resources;
    • Manage daily project QA & QC resources;
    • Implement Quality competency matrix and develop QA & QC resources accordingly.
  • Quality Management System / Project Quality Plan compliance:
    • Elaboration of project quality plans at sales and execution following Andritz and customer requirements;
    • Manage project KPI;
    • Implement control of document process in the project;
    • Ensure design reviews are effective;
    • Ensure quality requirements are implemented, Systematic quality release prior to hand-over.
  • Non-Conformance management and Continuous Improvement :
    • Facilitate Non-Conformances resolution when issues;
    • Identify potential quality risks, implement preventive measures and mitigation plans;
    • Represent Andritz during customer audits and follow-up on findings resolution up to closure;
    • Perform complex root cause analysis, develop corrective actions and implement on project;
    • Lead project close-down, effective feedback loop to processes in collaboration with QHSE manager.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant experience;
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience in heavy industry including relevant experience in direct employee supervision;
  • Solid understanding of quality, safety and technical aspects of manufacturing and construction sites in Canada;
  • Hydroelectric projects experience is an asset;
  • Proficient in ISO 9001:2015 implementation;
  • Root Cause Analysis facilitator;
  • Strong leadership;
  • Strong French and English proficiency, both oral and written;
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, team work skills, time management and autonomy;
  • Ability to travel to sites and facilities for short periods.
