Job Description

General Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of technical field services primarily in North America.  Some international travel may also be required.
  • Provide Service Sales support as required.
  • Project Management of orders as required.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership of the planning, execution and follow up of work by making efficient travel arrangements, communicating with customers and Andritz Paperchine sales and service staff and performing all required tasks on site.
  • Creating and distributing professional reports to all relevant people in a timely manner, preferably within two weeks.
  • Service job estimating & providing support to Sales for potential projects.
  • Project kick-off meetings, working with Engineering, Purchasing & Production to achieve project schedules on time & within budget, start-ups, achieving Performance Warranties, reports on Orders and case studies.

The expectation is that at least 1,400 hours per year will be direct hours (charged to Orders).

 

Work will be done in either Capital or Service business.  Specific product areas include:

  • Wet & Dry End Products such as (but not limited to) headboxes, forming, press, dryers, calender, sizing / coating, reel, winders and threading.
  • Maintenance or Mechanical services, as required
  • Paper machine Consumables

 

More specifically:

  • Carry and wear safety equipment (safety shoes, hardhat, glasses, and ear protection).
  • Travel arrangements to be done in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Supervise or perform the installation of Andritz Paperchine equipment as listed above. Following and understanding assembly drawings and other engineering documents is required to ensure proper equipment installation.
  • Consult with Applications Department to ensure proper equipment optimization.
  • Measure-up of existing equipment/machine areas to allow Engineering to prepare layouts – provide field notes, pictures and existing drawings to Engineering in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate geometry of customer papermaking equipment. Record the positioning of existing equipment to be compared to OEM prints.  Recommend changes according to findings to help solve issues.
  • Up to 75% travel required.

Job Requirements

Education/ Experience:   Two or Four-year college degree in Engineering   

 

Skills:

  1. Self-starter capable of working with minimum supervision.
  2. Excellent understanding of drawings, geometries and assembly requirements
  3. Analytical in nature and capable of understanding paper machine wet-end and press section. 
  4. Understanding the complex designs of the product line of Andritz Paperchine.
  5. Capable of doing methodical measure-ups for future equipment installation.
  6. Willingness to work day or night shifts as required
  7. Ability to put together professional reports.
  8. Good understanding of papermaking
  9. Ability to communicate with customers and give presentations on site.
  10. Ability to travel globally without restrictions.
  11. Good personal appearance.
  12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
