Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Reporting to the North American Aftermarket Division for Andritz Feed & Biofuel (FB), this position is responsible for providing on-site services to end customers in all the industries (Feed, Biomass, Pet Food, Extrusion, and Industrial) that FB serves in the US and Canada, with additional regional responsibilities and potential travel outside North America. Ideally, residence would be within the Midwest region (Iowa, Wisconsin, Dakota(s), Minnesota, Nebraska).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Provide technical support and on-call response to customers, other Field Service Technicians, Sales Managers, and Aftermarket Account Managers;
  • Actively participate in on-site assistance for start-ups and complex repair work;
  • Perform technical tasks (read & understand mechanical drawings, flow diagrams, and schematics, troubleshoot & identify mechanical, installation, or construction defects and/or poorly performing equipment. Perform measurements using Verniers, Micrometers, Dial Indicators, etc.;
  • Assist Customer Account Managers in identifying parts needed for repair, rebuild, or warranty prior to service work date;
  • Travel extensively (on short notice, as needed via private / public transportation) within North America (USA & Canada, without restrictions). Minimal potential for international travel. Overnight travel approximately 70%;
  • Participate in trade shows and customer training sessions;
  • Timely completion of standard service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements;
  • Maintain site safe work practices during work scope execution;
  • Must carry a Company cell phone and be on call to assist with emergencies;
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.Position requires capability to work in a mill environment including manufacturing plant facilities which may be dusty and dirty, with varying temperatures and noise levels, potential exposure to industrial magnets as well as cutting and welding areas. Candidate must have good mobility, be able to sit, stand for long hours, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, ascend/descend stairs, climb ladders, maneuver within tight spaces, and lift 50 lbs. Good sense of sight, hearing, and touch required. Position requires work to be conducted in a safe and efficient manner at all times.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: BS or Associate Degree and/or equivalent work experience in a discipline related to work assignment. Strong mechanical aptitude, understanding of assembly/disassembly of Andritz built equipment; ability to work under minimal supervision, in the field both independently and with other Service Techs; candidate must be self-motivated, handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines by prioritizing work, problem solve, maintain a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced environment, possess strong verbal and written communication skills (ability to read & write English required), problem solve, be organized and possess interpersonal skills (internally / externally), along with intermediate math skills; requires proficiency with Microsoft Office products and web-based programs (i.e. Sharepoint). Basic understanding of pelleting, grinding, other ancillary processes, as well as of vibration analysis and electrical principles preferred. Maintain a valid DOT Driver’s License and current passport required. MUST be able to train in Muncy (PA), Garden City (GA), and Blenheim (ON, Canada) manufacturing facilities for an extended time period at initial hiring, while also travelling to field sites with current technicians for on-the-job training. Must regard confidentiality, professionally represent Andritz, and perform job in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
