Job Description

The Site HSE Advisor is responsible to ensure the efficient implementation of the HSE Program on site, specifically for the electrical scope of work. He will report on site to the Site HSE Manager and work within a team of HSE advisors. This position is based at a remote site location in Canada and the first assignment will be at the Muskrat Falls site.



PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Responsible to implement HSE requirements at construction site for the scope of work, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) plan, company standards, customer requirements and government regulations;
  • Ensure an effective HSE awareness communication and training plan to supervisors and workers;
  • Conduct regular HSE walk-arounds, identify all potential risk areas and immediately address them with the workers;
  • In collaboration with the installation supervisor, conduct risk analysis for installation tasks; ;
  • Performs investigations of accidents and incidents, including root cause analysis on HSE issues;
  • Includes First Aid rescue and First Aid responders programs into the safe work procedures;
  • Ensure field inspections are performed and workplace safety compliance;
  • Supports execution of internal and external audits in construction sites.

Job Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of experience in HSE working on a construction site;
  • Experience in Electrical Safety following CSA Z462 – required;
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification - required;
  • Experience working under the Newfoundland-Labrador Construction Safety legislation;
  • Strong communication skills (spoken  & written) at all levels of the organization;
  • Auditor and Trainer skills;
  • Proven leadership ability within a team context;
  • Excellent problem solving skills (root cause analysis expertise), sound judgment, initiative & creativity;
  • Willingness to travel and flexible with work schedule.
