Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Plan, manage, supervise, and perform standard pulp and paper tests in all areas of the laboratory to assure accurate and timely delivery using proper safety precautions.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES (Responsibilities include but are not limited to):

Analyze, supervise and manage all Laboratory (Lab) Department activities; set both day-to-day and long-term overall safety and behavioral standards for the Lab facility; incorporate safety discussions into lab group meetings for continuous improvement of best safety practices; plan, prepare and supervise Lab services relating to national standards and organization’s policies; provide and perform access to Lab personnel for consultation and determination of operational lab.

Perform and maintain both pre and post analytic functions to attain departmental goals and ensure stable conformance by Lab staff; establish and maintain Lab document control (records, reports, and files); fulfill report requirements and record retention, as established by accrediting agencies; prepare, implement and evaluate capital budgets and annual operations; analyze, supervise, and submit Lab charges to billing on time; analyze, suggest selected purchase equipment, and monitor maintenance and service agreements; manage Laboratory purchase of inventory, storage, and supplies usage; manage and resolve administrative and technical problems; support Director with Laboratory activities and operations. Travel to customer locations as necessary to assist with off-site trial activities; perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Bachelor of Science with a high proficiency in mathematics. General willingness to continuously learn and improve; ability to think logically and methodically in order to apply problem-solving strategies. Must possess solid writing skills, proficiency with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, and Excel) as well as familiarity with other office suites/databases. Must be able to: Work with little to no supervision, independently and/or as a team member; speak, read, and write English; be well organized, and detailed; possess a strong work ethic, solid communication (verbal & written), and listening skills; prioritize workload, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; problem solve, maintain positive attitude and composure, as well as regard confidentiality at all times.

 

ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Majority of work is performed indoors. Requires the capability of working in an environment (home-based office and/or off-site facilities) with exposure to dust, dirt, varying temperatures and noise levels, chemicals, irritants; must be able to lift at least up to 50 lbs., sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, navigate stairs.

Requires good mobility to perform job with a considerable amount of time on feet and travel to different areas of the facility; Good sense of sight, hearing, and touch. Must conduct work is a safe manner at all times, to include wearing required PPE.
